York School of Theology - new course for 2010/11
Started in 2006, YST is a venture by churches in York to provide practical Christian training for today. This year, we are working in partnership with the Holy Trinity Brompton School of Theology in London to bring you some of the best course material available today. Full details here.
The 2010/11 Course
We are using material from HTB’s ‘Bible track‘ to make in-depth theology as accessible and relevant as we can. We will have a combination of live speakers (from York and further afield) and DVDs recorded at HTB, which will make our teaching both engaging and top quality. Each session will begin with a time of worship, and end with time to discuss in groups and ask questions.
Course times and venue
Our 2010/11 course runs on twelve Saturday mornings, starting at 9:30am and ending at 12.30pm. The first session is on November 13th (full details here). The venue is the Belfrey Hall off Stonegate, in the centre of York.
Price
Our 2010/11 full fee is £110 for all twelve sessions, or £12 per session on the door. There is a discounted rate of £40 for students, unwaged, Parish Assistants etc, or £4 per session on the door.
Basis of Faith
York School of Theology operates according to a basis of faith, to which all tutors subscribe. This is a short summary of the essential elements of the Christian faith. Copies of YST’s statement of faith are available on this website.

York Minster Library
Students of YST can make use of the Minster Library, located in Deans Park, at the rear of York Minster. The library is an excellent resource for study - and a beautiful place in which to work. It is open from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Thursday and 9 am to 12 noon on Friday. There is an on-line catalogue, available by visiting http://libcat.york.ac.uk. There is no charge for using the library, but if you wish to borrow books, there is an annual charge of £25.
